Well, it's official! There is a strong possibility that I will "kick the bucket" on May 3rd!
Yes, I've registered for The Flying Pig Half Marathon in Cincinnati. Most people would think that half (13) is do-able, and that running the whole marathon (26) would really raise the death toll...not me! Last week, I almost bit it running 6 miles in Cinci! :)
I'm registered for the race! I've been "training" since the beginning of February. I'm running 4 days/week with my long runs on Sundays. Tomorrow I will run 7 miles, and each week the long run will increase by a mile. The training takes me up to 12 miles before the race. YIKES! I've been working harder to run hills in Canton. The elevation here is much different than Cinci, so that's got me a bit worried. I'm doing my best though. I've been using an awesome website: MapMyRun.com . This site allows users to map out the distance of their runs. I can also keep a virtual "training log" that will, if I enter them, record my workouts measuring distance, elevation, time, etc.
I'm not "in it to win it". I'll just be happy to cross the finish line. It's been fun to set this goal for myself and work toward attaining it. Work has been incredibly busy lately (and as we all know BUSY and STRESS go hand in hand). So...training provides a nice outlet for exercise, decompressing, and distraction.
So I guess...here goes nothing!

Good Luck, Aimee! I've had lots of friends run the "Pig". Count on the energy of all those people to help you out, it's a good time!
