I've been working with an awesome team of people in Plain Local in order to create a two day professional development experience for our staff. I simply can't take credit for ANY of the wonderful learning that will happen during the two days, but I thought it would be fun to share some of the "happenings" with all of you. In the following Prezi you can browse through to see different sessions that will take place, presenter bios, daily info, pictures, and video that is pertinent to Reading Street University participants. This conference is happening because of our new Reading Street Literacy Curriculum. We've just completed our first year of implementation and now that we have our arms wrapped around it we are working to further our knowledge as a staff in order to improve our practice. This Prezi will be rolling in the theatre as registrants enter, are seated, and wait for the kickoff to begin. This provides something to entertain and inform during a bit of downtime.
I chose to use Prezi, which is a free online web 2.0 tool, as my form of presenting the information. Anyone can use it as an alternative to PowerPoint (or other information sharing software). This is a different way to present infomation. I'm hoping it will catch the interest of some of our more "techie" participants. I like this tool. This is my second time creating a presentation using it and I've been able to do everything I want with the product. I would encourage you to check it out if you're looking for something different. The best news is...IT'S FREE!
That being said, the content of the presentation might not be all that interesting to you (unless you happen to be an educator) but the exposure to Prezi, the pictures, and the video clips will hopefully provide some mild form of entertainment!
