The Notre Dame Miracle

 

I've been wanting to blog about this since September when we took Amelia to her first game. Here we are two months later and she is (and the Irish are) still undefeated!  

It all started on Saturday, September 1, the first game of the 2012 football season. As usual, Nathan woke up with game day excitement.  It was the start of another football season.  I think it's clear to all that ND is Nathan's pride and joy.  So game day, and the season, started off with enthusiasm.  This year, however, was a bit different from past years.  This year, Nathan got to introduce Amelia to the pride and tradition of Notre Dame Football.  As it turns out, she's proven to be a lucky charm!  So on the morning of the first game (before we even brushed our teeth) this was in the iHome blasting through our upstairs. Daddy was dancing around and singing while Baby Girl was watching him with a goofy smile on her face, totally in love with her Daddy.  (I wish I had that part recorded!)

So, we all geared up in our best Irish gear....and began to cheer them on to an unforgettable season.

We spent the season planning our Saturdays around game time and kick off.  We've watched games at home (rarely), we've watched games in Canton.  We've watched games at the hospital while Nathan is on call, and we've watched games at friend's houses.  We've watched games in rooms full of Pitt (and Alabama) fans, and we've watched games in rooms full of people who didn't care at all. Believe it or not we've watched and RE-WATCHED games because we just couldn't get enough.  And...on two lucky weekends...we've watched games in South Bend. :)

Even though Amelia isn't a little boy running around campus with a football, it's still pretty fun to deck her out in ND gear and walk around to TONS of special places on campus. Oh, and, it's also REALLY fun to visit the baby section of the bookstore! 

I won't detail out every moment of our two weekend trips to Notre Dame (that could get boring for readers).  I will say, this has been a pretty special season so far.  How is it that children, even at five months old, make everything so much more fun!?  

For now, we are enjoying 11-0.  We are jittery about the game on Saturday vs. USC (trust me, we talk about it daily)! And we are very PROUD to give Amelia the credit for the current ranking of #1! :)  (We've fallen so naturally into the roles of Mommy and Daddy, haven't we?!)
